Aadarsh Ram

Thinking why, Building how

I’m Aadarsh Ram, a junior undergraduate at IIT Madras majoring in Electrical Engineering. My research sits at the crossroads of Artificial Intelligence and Robotics, with a focus on embodied intelligence and human-robot interaction. I’m particularly motivated by the vision of building intelligent robots that can take on tasks which are risky, repetitive, or mundane — freeing humans to focus on more creative and purposeful pursuits.

Currently, I work with Prof. Ravi Prakash on user-centric trajectory adaptation in motion planning. For a full overview of my work, see my CV.

Updates:

  • June 2025: Received the NUS Young Fellowship and attended a week-long academic immersion program at the National University of Singapore, exploring the influence of AI in research.

  • May 2025: Started a summer research internship at the Human-Interactive Robotics Lab, IISc Bangalore guided by Prof. Ravi Prakash.

  • July 2023: Joined the Indian Institute of Technology Madras (IIT Madras) to pursue my Bachelors' in Electrical Engineering.

Beyond Research

When I’m not tinkering with robots or chasing down an idea in AI, I’m usually chasing experiences. Traveling excites me. Whether it's ten days in Singapore exploring crowded tourist spots to quiet late-night walks, or meeting strangers and turning conversations into stories. I carry a camera almost everywhere I go. For me, photography is less about “pretty pictures” and more about capturing a moment — a mood, a story, a slice of life. I’m also deeply curious about people. Psychology and philosophy are my favorite rabbit holes. I often ponder for hours about why we think the way we do, how we make decisions, and what gives life its meaning. Books are gems. Works like Khalil Gibran's Prophet, Coelho's Alchemist and Naval's Almanack instil sparks of wisdom that guide my way of life.

And somewhere in between, I try to keep life light with my quirkiness and one-liner dad-jokes. I like to think of it as my Archimedes’ principle: stay buoyant — otherwise, you’ll drown. See what I did there? :)
